The original DeMolay Chapter in Danville was started in 1930 when it received its Letters Temporary allowing it to work towards chartering a new chapter. At Dad Lloyd Lorraine Lockard's untimely death on February 12, 1931, newspaper notices of his death directed the DeMolays to attend his funeral services together. After his death, the Chapter in Danville was named in his honor. This L.L. Lockard Chapter operated until 1985.
On May 11, 2019, the Valley of Danville held its first meeting for those interested in starting a new DeMolay Chapter in Danville. The State Master Councilor and other officers attended and obligated the Chapter's first two members. The Chapter received its Letters Temporary on July 11, 2019. The Chapter continued to initiate new members and elected its first slate of officers, including its first Master Councilor, Brother Christopher Morse.
On March 15, 2020, the Chapter qualified for its Charter with an institution date of March 15, 2020. This new Chapter's members decided to honor Dad Lockard again by taking the name L.L. Lockard.
Unfortunately, this week in March was the same week that the Coronavirus pandemic quarantine policies were implemented in the State and Nation. This curtailed Chapter activities for many months.
The chapter finally received its Charter at a ceremony and Degree Day on November 5, 2022. The events were held during the Valley of Danville Scottish Rite Reunion. Dad Russell Scanlan, DeMolay Executive Officer for Illinois, presented the Charter to the members and presented Zerubbabel Keys to Brother Morse and Dads Robert Gill and Brian Pettice for their work in establishing the new chapter. As of this writing in April of 2026, eight Brothers have served the Chapter as Master Councilor.
In 2023 Lockard DeMolay started a Squire Manor for younger boys aged nine to eleven. Six Squires have served as Master Squire.
